30 January 2023 — The Department of History and Philosophy has just shared Philosophy course descriptions for Philosophy minors and elective takers. These courses are being offered for the incoming second semester.

These extended course descriptions are to aid students in knowing more about the philosophy courses being offered and in piquing their interest.

Among these courses, is the new subject Philo 126 which focuses on Chinese Philosophy. This is a new elective course that has been added in the recent curricular change and will be taught by Mr. Franz Joseph Yoshiy II.

Of course, other Philosophy courses being offered are Medieval Philosophy, Contemporary Philosophy and Epistemology. They are taught by Prof. Olivia Mendoza, Prof. Ben Carlo Atim, and Prof. Vlademire Kevin Bumatay respectively.

What’s more exciting is that links to the required reading materials for Week 1 has already been provided to give you a head start. This is also a good opportunity for you to see how interesting the course readings are.

Check out these philosophy course descriptions above!

    Philosophy in the CSS

Philosophy inquires into fundamental questions about the world, knowledge, and the human condition. The program provides basic proficiency in the history of philosophy and the main areas of philosophical inquiry, as well as skills and competencies necessary for philosophical research. Its mode of philosophizing mediates local experiences and sources with universal thinking and is in dialogue with the natural and social sciences, the humanities and the arts.
