Philosophy Week 2022
The College of Social Sciences Discipline of Philosophy celebrates this year’s World Philosophy Day with the Philosophy Week 2022 (14-19 November) with the theme, “The Forthcoming Human”.
In a hyper-technologized world, the very concept of humanity is in constant evolution. What do we call human today? What do we continue to call human despite the obvious historical evolution and the uncertain future we face? Are we witnessing a transfiguration so radical that its own definition, in addition to the humanistic horizon, is outdated? How can we envisage the new figures of the human in the future?
The discipline of Philosophy in UP Baguio and the Philosophy Circle brings you Philosophy Week 2022, a series of activities that provide an ideal forum for interrogating these philosophical questions surrounding this contemporary human predicament.
These activities include public lectures that feature members of the Philosophy Discipline such as Prof. Franz Joseph Yoshiy II and Lecturer Mr. Ranier Abengaña, that leads up a culmination night with students, faculty and even BASS Philosophy minors alumni. One interesting activity for this week is the Open House of philosophy subjects, where anyone can virtually sit-in in any of the offered online classes this semester. You’ll have pre-register for this one, but no less exciting!
