STUDENT ACADEMIC ORGANIZATIONS
The academic organizations under the College of Social Sciences are formed and run by the students of the college and of the university. The eight organizations under the college each represent every Major and Minor discipline in the CSS. Each of these organizations may follow different goals and visions in line with their respective disciplines, but they also work together to make the college and university an integrative space for learning and understanding.
As with the CSS’s vision to provide a curriculum that is committed to disciplinal competence, the student organizations conduct activities and events where they can practice and share what they’ve understood in class, as well as learn from new perspectives and approaches outside their own chosen disciplines. The organizations mainly host seminars and lectures, often inviting inside and outside professors and scholars to come and share their research with the university body. The events and activities the organizations hold are always held in guidance with their faculty advisers as well as the university administration to ensure quality and safety.
The existence of the student organizations is not only crucial in contributing a student’s overall university experience, but they also serve to be intermediaries between the faculty and the students. These organizations are meant to be safe spaces for students to ask for assistance in academic matters, or simply, for healthy debate and intellectual conversations.
Joining an organization can be integral to a student’s campus life, and this is no different with the organizations under the CSS. While it is more academic in nature compared to those extra-curricular organizations found in campus, they also help students provide skills that can help them in their future careers, such as research skills, management, as well as interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. The most important thing that students can learn is the ability and the capacity to give back to their community, which is the essence of being a student of the University of the Philippines.
THE ANTHROPOLOGY ORGANIZATION (TAO)
The word “TAO” is the Filipino term used to refer to human beings either as a collective or as individuals. The holistic study of human beings is at the very core of the discipline of Anthropology, and our organization’s name incorporates both the discipline and its subject matter. TAO was constituted in 2008, during the UP-Centennial year by Social Anthropology majors.

THE ECONOMICS SOCIETY (ECONSOC)
The UP Baguio Economics Society is an academic organization established in 1988 by a group of economics students with the guidance of Mr. Arthur Bernardo Boquiren, a former faculty member in the Department of Economics and Political Sciences, College of Social Sciences
The organization was established to consolidate Economics majors under the BA Social Sciences program to strengthen their knowledge in economics and to help achieve the organization’s objective which is to spread awareness about economic issues and educate people on the basic economic concepts thereof. Since its establishment, the organization has been exclusive only to the Economics majors in the university.
VISION
The University of the Philippines Baguio Economics Society aims to be an efficient organization with a primary goal of helping students to appreciate the importance of economics in everyday lives.
MISSION
The University of the Philippines Baguio Economic Society is committed to the supply of quality projects, programs and services responsive to the demand of the students in the pursuit for excellence.

(UP KAMALAYAN)
Ang UP Kalipunan ng Mag-Aaral sa Kasaysayan o UP KAMALAYAN ay isang akademikong organisasyon na naka-base sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas- Baguio. Itinatag ito noong 1992, may layon na magbigay ng kritikal na pananalaysay ng nakaraan at mahigit 27 na taon nang ipinagpapatuloy ang layunin. Bilang organisasyong binubuo ng mga nagpapakadalubhasa at may interes sa Kasaysayan, layunin ng UP KAMALAYAN na maisulong ang kamalayang pangkasaysayan tungo sa pagbabagong panlipunan.
Layunin ng UP KAMALAYAN na ipalaganap ang kahalagahan ng kasaysayan sap ag-aaral ng lipunan, at bilang salamin ng diwang nasyonalismo. Patuloy nitong ginagampanan ang tungkulin sa pamamagitan ng paglulunsad ng mga proyektong nagpapalalim, nagpapayabong, at nagpapaigting ng pagmamahal at kaalaman sa kasasaysayan.
Ang adhikain ng kalipunan na mapalaganap ang kahalagahan ng kasaysayan ay tumutugon sa apat na antas: sa lupon ng mga nagdadalubhasa sa kasaysayan, sa mga kapwa mag-aaral at sa institusyon ng UP Baguio, sa Rehiyong Kordilyera, at sa bansang Pilipinas.

The Management Economics Society is an academic organization for BS Management Economics students and is duly recognized by the University of the Philippines Baguio. The organization was founded on 16 July 2012 in front of the clinic of UP Baguio by: Keevo de Amigos, Inna Camille Andres, Louise Sigrid Antonio, Renzy Bantigue, Celina Cezar, Arianne Colocado, Salve Regina Corpuz, Frances Cudiamat, Katryn PB Custodio, Fershey De Guzman, Eunice De Vera, Jared Jeric Dela Cruz, Sheena Doria, Marjorie Gabriel, Lance Garcia, Ma. Guadalupe Gatan, Hyra Mae Herreria, Aldynne Genise Jallorina, Catherine Janda, Eliza Marie Marchadesch, Jenina Mae Mata, Danice Parel, Nesreen Divine Reyes, Kenneth Ian Robles, Donnalyn Sevidal, Gemalyn Sugui, and Daphne Yang.
Until today, the organization is steadfast in its commitment to launch effective events, projects, engagements, and partnerships that promote development and social responsibility.

UPB Philosophy Circle (UPB Philo Circ)
The UPB Philosophy Circle is an organization that is composed of students and enthusiasts of Philosophy. The organization was founded around the 1980s when the discipline of Philosophy was transferred from the Humanities to the Social Sciences in 1979. At some point in its history, the organization became inactive and was re-established in 2003 after UP Baguio was recognized as the seventh constituent of the UP System.
The organization aims to uphold the principles of cooperation, mutual assistance, and service to the community and the UPB studentry; to promote the welfare of Philosophy Minors and the students of UPB; as well as to promote awareness on philosophical issues and critical thinking.

POLITICALLY INCLINED STUDENTS OF UP BAGUIO (POLIS - UPB)
The Politically Inclined Students of UP Baguio is an academic organization motivated by the need to promote political awareness and to increase the appreciation for political science in UPB. Since its establishment in 1995, the organization continues to uphold its mandate to serve as an avenue for students and other members of the community to evaluate the critical role of political science in society, as well as in the campus, by spearheading various events throughout the years, such as organizing of debates during the USC Elections, forums, educational discussions, quiz shows, and undergraduate conferences.
POLIS – UPB was established in 1995 by Judge Rillera, Jane Erese, and Mavi Ladia. The establishment was motivated by the observation that political science was the only social science discipline that was not represented by an academic organization in the institution, despite its increasing relevance and importance on campus and in society.
Its first major activity was a debate of candidates for the chairpersonship of the University Student Council outside of the usual Miting de Avance. This developed a neutral stance vis-à-vis the parties during elections, and this established the organization’s reputation as a credible organizer of issue-based debates among candidates for years to come while bringing to light important political issues of the time.
UP INTEGRATED STUDENTS IN PSYCHOLOGY (UP ISIP)
The UP Integrated Students in Psychology (UP ISIP) is an academic organization that acknowledges the role of psychology in the development of individuals and the society that they reside in. The organization remains steadfast in promoting a psychology that is centered on the Filipino context, one that uses the unique aspects of Filipino life to understand and help our fellow citizens and our beloved nation.
MISSION AND VISION
To unite fellow psychology students and enthusiasts, apply psychology in examining society and the individual, and provide support and services for those who are suffering mental health problems through shaping an awareness towards a psychology that mirrors the Filipino spirit and is in service to the Filipino people.
